From the 18th century, in addition to agricultural activity, farmers of Haut-Doubs during winter season become watchmakers. Their know-how, alliance of advanced technical expertise and attention to detail, allow the development of the watchmaking industry beyond the borders of the Haut-Doubs. There will be more than 2300 watchmakers in 1880, experts in all the stages of watch manufacture : needles, dials, enamelling balanciers clock, mechanical assembly.
Recognised for their great care, precision and quality of the finish goods, the men and women of Doubs watchmakers have developped excellent know-how currently used in the most demanding markets, such as luxury business, aeronautic or medical devices.
